Project details

This project delivered a new 420 place primary school for 4 - 11-year-olds on the Roundhouse Way development in Cringleford. The new two-storey building features modern facilities, including 14 classrooms, a hall, studio space, library, outdoor play areas, a kitchen, and associated toilet and administration areas.

The project received £2,000,000 from the Greater Norwich Growth Board's (GNGB) Infrastructure Investment Fund (IIF) in addition to investment from central government, through Basic Need Grants. The GNGB's investment helped bridge the financial gap and facilitated the timely completion of the project.

This project was particularly important to the GNGB as the existing primary school in Cringleford has been oversubscribed for many years, resulting in pupils having to travel to nearby villages to attend school. In addition, significant housing development in and around Cringleford has increased demand, with an additional 2000 homes feeding into the catchment area. Delivery of this project has ensured that resident families and those moving into the area have access to sufficient local educational facilities.

The school was delivered by R G Carter Construction Limited, who worked collaboratively with Norfolk County Council to build the school based on NPS design. Numerous celebration events were held with local stakeholders, including a groundbreaking ceremony and steel signing event. The school was completed and handed over in May 2024 and officially opened to pupils in September 2024, with 30 reception children enrolled.
