Blofield Primary School
Project details
To meet the needs of a growing community, Blofield Primary School was relocated and expanded to a new site on Plantation Road. The new two-form entry school offers 14 modern classrooms, a dedicated outdoor area for reception pupils, library space, a spacious main hall with an adjoining studio, kitchen facilities, and improved administration areas. The scheme also includes 60 on-site staff parking spaces, along with covered cycle and scooter parking.
This project was essential to accommodate over 500 new homes in Blofield and Brundall. Existing schools could not expand due to site constraints, so Norfolk County Council agreed to relocate Blofield Primary and double its capacity from 210 to 420 pupils - ensuring sufficient school places for local families.
The Greater Norwich Growth Board (GNGB) contributed £1.2m from the Infrastructure Investment Fund (IIF), which alongside significant investment from central government, through Basic Need Grants, allowed the project to be delivered. The school was designed by NPS Ltd and built by Pentaco Construction. It officially opened to pupils on 24 April 2025.
The new facility provides a modern, safe, and accessible learning environment for pupils and staff. Expanded facilities also support wider community use: local groups are utilising the space for recreational and social activities, while other schools have expressed interest in using the new field for inter-school sports events, fostering stronger connections between schools and promoting physical activity.
